Roadmap phase 3 · AWS core
AWS labs
One visual lesson per AWS topic, in the order the roadmap meets them. Each lesson builds a mental model first
(what the thing is, what it costs, how to choose), then points at the Day issues where you build it for real.
How AWS fits together, in four sentences
- An account is the bill and the security boundary; IAM decides who may do what inside it.
- A VPC is your private network in a region; subnets, route tables and security groups decide what can reach what.
- EC2 machines and RDS databases live inside the VPC; S3 stores files outside it, reached through the API.
- CloudWatch tells you what is happening, and the bill tells you what it cost. Delete what you are not using.

S3
Buckets and objects, versioning, static websites, bucket policies, encryption, lifecycle rules and storage classes.
Coming
Lesson 4 · Days 48 to 53
Networking and VPC
CIDR blocks, subnets, internet and NAT gateways, route tables, security groups vs network ACLs.
Coming
Lesson 5 · Days 54 to 57
EC2 machines
Every instance family, size and price on one page, and how to pick a machine when someone describes their problem.
- A server host you can slice (interactive figure)
- Name decoder, family map, shape chart, size ladder
- GPUs, burst credits, ways to pay, the full bill
- Sizer over all 1,300+ instance types, and a quiz

RDS
Managed Postgres: instance classes, storage, private subnets, connecting from EC2, snapshots and restore.
Coming
Lesson 7 · Days 61 to 63
CloudWatch and cost
Metrics, logs and alarms. Cost Explorer and tagging, so you can see who spent what.
Coming
Lesson 8 · Days 64 to 67
